  • Question

  • I have windows xp and installed several windows updates this afternoon.   Now I am receiving a message that I need to validate windows.   When I try to do so, I am taken to the "do not navigate away from this page" which then goes blank and does nothing.

I have never had this issue before and windows is genuine as it was purchased with the laptop through Best Buy.

This is a bit of a Heinz57 of a system.
The disk used for the last reinstall is a Dell Recovery disk.
The machine appears to be an HP
The installed OS is Media Center Edition
The system Clock is almost certainly wrong.
The machine would appear to have been manufactured to suit Vista, rather than XP

For what version and edition of Windows is the machine licensed, according to the OCA sticker on the case??

  • The machine was designed for Windows XP but states it is Windows Vista Capable.

It is an HP that was last serviced by Best Buy to replace/repair several items including a hard drive.
