  • Question

  • Would it be possible to perform searches via either the console or the web interface using windows desktop search?  If I logon to the server, I can use it to perform searches, but cannot access this remotely.

  • The search feature on the Shares tab in the web interface actually uses Desktop Search.

Please expand on this answer... I have a a suggestion for 'connect' but before I do that I want to understand your point of view first. Maybe what I am looking for is already there...

  • Well, your go to your server through your browser, with a URL like http://server/. You log in, and click on the Shared Folders tab. There's a search box in the upper right portion of the page; that's supposedly using Desktop Search.

Theres not much more to say, really...

  • I was more looking at the ability of desktop search to actually index the documents that have been backed up.  This would allow a user to search easily across various computer backups and not just the shares from the server.
