Question about MCSA Requirements RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

    I think my question is really simple, but looking at Microsoft Web Site MCSA requirements I cant undesrtand something.

    As a client exam i can use 70-270 or 70-620 right? Ok I know that.
    Lets consider that I have ( 70-270 as a Client axam and 70-290 and 70-291 as core exams for MCSA )
    Can I apply for 70-620 as my Elective Exam for MCSA and still get MCTS in Vista?

    I`m asking that because in MCSA requirements page says;

    In client session

    TS: Configuring Microsoft Windows Vista Client

    Note You may apply this exam toward either the elective requirement or the client operating systems requirement—not both.

    In elective session;

    TS: Configuring Microsoft Windows Vista Client

    Note You can apply this exam toward either the elective requirement or the client operating systems requirement—not both.

    So reading the information above I understand that I can not user Vista as elective exam if I use XP as client. Am i wrong?

    Looking at Born to Learn Microsoft Official Blog I have this information;

    If I understand correctly you can use the 620 exam as a CLIENT elective instead of XP in MCSE/MCSA certification

    Yes, and this will be updated soon on the microsoft.com/learning site...<ADDING MORE DETAIL ON JANUARY 12>70-620 will satisfy the client elective for both MCSA and MCSE (on both 2000 and 2003) as will 70-210 (Windows 2000 Pro) and 70-270 (Windows XP Pro).  It can also satisfy the elective requirement for MCSA and MCSE (on both 2000 and 2003) as long as the candidate does not use it as both their client elective and a general elective – it can satisfy one or the other but not both.

    Thanks a lot for the info.

  • So,

    You have;
    70-270
    70-291
    70-290
    70-620
    You earned MCSA if the exams above?
    MCST also?

    Thanks

  • Yes, I completed those exams and earned my MCSA on Windows Server 2003, and I also earned my MCST: Microsoft Windows Vista Configuration.
