Is cold fusion a problem? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a site www.wideopenwalls.com that I recently changed the copy on. At the time I noticed that the previous website still existed. The new website is in coldfusion (html 4.01 transitional) with pages having .cfm extensions, the old was html. I removed the old html pages from server. While Google, Yahoo and Lycos (all I checked) continue to rank the website high in our keywords, the website totally vanished from MSN SERP. I signed up for MSN webmaster tools and added MSN code in html form along with a sitemap.xml and sitemap.html and robots.txt.... sometime during this process it occured that maybe MSN was looking for html page... so I copied the index.cfm to index.html and the site returned a day or so later to MSN but because the .cfm pages feature active includes the index.html has no links!

    I'm confused. any advise appreciated.

  • I am more familiar with Apache. Yes, I have thought of 301 redirect index.html to index.cfm etc but from my limited understanding of coldfusion and MS IIS 6 I would be unsure of how to proceed.  I also would like the website to 301 redirect from http://wideopenwalls.com to http://www.wideopenwalls.com and my understanding of that is I need to be in the IIS Server or hosting setup.  Again, thanks you for your reply.
