DIR 655 crashes when downloading large files remotely RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running the HP 470 WHS and when I try to download large files the router DIR-655 loses the pppoe connection and I must reset the web site connectivity to restore my connection.  I have tried a linksys 10/100 router and it does not have this problem (although it has other problems so I do not want to use it) .  Is there some setting on the DIR 655 I am missing.  Small files such as single photos work fine on remote downloads but a 45MB audio file will crash the DIR 655

  • Hi,

I have the same model router, but it doesn't do the same as yours. I haven't changed anything when setting up, so would suggest getting in touch with D-Link support.

  • There's also the old tried-and-true:
Check with the router manufacturer for updated firmware for the router.  Generally, most 'wierd' problems (with any router) come down to flaky shipping firmware that's since been improved.

At this time, D-Link has version 1.10 posted:

    What's yours at?

  • I found disabling Traffic Shaping under QOS solves the problem.

  • This also fixes the issue of when downloading the speed of the download slows down.  DIR-655 QOS Engine settings are under the advanced tab.
