Adding a Hard Drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I think I have a handle on this but I wanted to double check.

I have a home built PC,( ECS MB, Dual Core Celeron, 2 GIG of RAM), I have 2 WD 250 Gigs, One IDE one SATA)

The SATA is the system drive. I am planning to add a 640 gig WD. Do i need to reinsatll WHS?

I have a simple install, so reinstalling is not a big deal, but I would like to just add the new drive to the pool.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Adding or removing drives, doesn't incur a re-installation, so there should be no problem whatsoever just adding the drive. When you re-start the server, after attaching the drive, it will ask you what you want to do with it, incorporate into the storage pool, or leave it outside. If you have the Power Pack installed, you have a third option, that is, use the new drive to act as a manual backup for your Shared Folders.

    Good luck,
