windows 7 professional not genuine

Question
-
I get a message that my computer is not running genuine windows.
Ofcourse I'm running genuine software, both windows and office, and both are properly activated.
I tried re-activating windows, and succeeded, but that did not solve my problem.
I don't remember any big recent changes in my system; the message seems to appear out of nowhere.
I run the diag tool and here's the results. Any help would be appreciated.

Your problem is caused by the Mismatched files above (highlighted)It's interesting to note that the same set of files appears to be coming up regularly - it would be nice to find a cause, and specific solution. Please let us know what Anti-Virus software you're running, and any other security software that you also run. Please also let us know if you run any programs that have a 'Registry Cleaner/Optimiser' component (such components are without exception snake-oil, and do more damage than good)To try and fix your problem there are two simple methods and one complicated one (and then you'll have to look to MS Support if all of those fail)We'll try the simple methods first - although we've not had much luck with them in these particular case1) System RestoreWhen did your problem first appear?Try a System Restore back to a point about 3 days before the date the problem first appeared.- Click the Start button
- In the Start Search field, type: System Restore and hit the Enter key
- Select "Choose Different Restore Point", Put a check in the box that says "Show restore points older than 5 days", select the restore point that corresponds to the date Before you first noticed the issue.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Reboot and see if that resolves the issue.
Once complete, reboot again.Run MGADiag - has the Mismatched files list changed at all? If it's gone completely, post the report back, otherwise proceed to 2)2) System File CheckerSystem File Checker - Instructions- Type in the Search box
CMD.EXE - right-click on the only file that is found
- Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up - At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW - and hit the Enter key
- Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
- Visit the Validation site http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and attempt to Validate Windows - again, make a note of error messages.
Run MGADiag again, and see if it's managed to clear the error - if not, post back with a new report, and we'll take another look.

Yes, we are having the same issue lately. Our laptop had been upgraded from Vista business to Windows 7 Professional last year and until now, have had no problems, but now after booting up we get the message that it is not genuine and gives a link to a site to download software to remedy/check for validation. The main pc also is having similar issues. We use microsoft security essentials for malware etc, there is a new upgrade available. Is this causing the problem? (ie corrupted files and such)Thursday, January 27, 2011 8:28 AM

...have just been on my netbook (upgraded to new version of MS Security Essentials last night) and now it is having same problem...So I am wondering if some of the MS upgrades are buggy and are now causing problems??
I am currently using another pc (windows 7 home premium) and have upgraded the MS security essentials, and during this upgrade, my system notified me that antivirus programs are ''turned off", and then I get a notification that I need to install cd/USB for Windows backup?!? Does anyone know if there is a problem with Microsoft?

Bonnie
Please post your OWN problem to your OWN NEW thread - with an MGADiag report
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

Hello Noel,
Thanks for your reply, and my apologies for not responding earlier.
Both the simple methods did not work. I get the same message when I try to validate windows online "some files are missing or changed and I have to buy a genuine product".
You asked about my security software. I'm only running Microsoft Securiy Essentials and I haven't run any Registry Optimiser on this machine yet.
I've run MGADiag again, and here's the report:
Again, any furhter help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed in your report :(One thing I just noticed - your machine appears to be new enough to have come from HP with Windows pre-installed, yet you have an OEM System Builder license. There could be two main reasons for this ....1) You bought an OEM System Builder pack to install W7 Pro on it, rather than an upgrade2) The machine is actually older - and came with a Free Upgrade to W7 (and you updated the BIOS)Which was it? - or am I off-base?Whatever, because it's an OEM build DVD, you won't be able to do a repair install to fix things, and the only option that may work is individually replacing the files concerned. This is a complicated process, as you first have to extract the relevant files from the DVD, and then replace them. Windows' System Protection, and permissions, will prevent replacement, so you have to do the file-swapping outside a Windows environment, or stop System Protection (which is not a good idea).--

...just to add a couple of links for you to work out whether you want to have a go at it yourself....To replace files from within Windows....(use the instructions for repair - ignore the bit about the SFC results <g>)To extract files from a Windows DVD -
