Installer encountered errors. The operation timed out. Get more help Error: 80072EE2

Question

The only other posting with 80072ee2 was a request for help that was told to start a new post - so here goes with mine!
Brand new installation of Windows7 RTM this morning. No AV installed yet and I get the error "Installer encountered errors. The operation timed out. Get more help Error: 80072EE2"
I will try a reboot and report back on the status. Edit Same problem persists after a reboot. I'm running Ultimate 7 32bit. The computer name is the same as the old computer name that the RC was using. I have not removed the device from the website.

Ha - well that was easy. I removed the old device from live mesh and then the installation worked.

Thanks for reporting back that it was resolved. I find it odd that you needed to remove the device from the Mesh in order for the new install to work. I did the same as you this weekend and did not remove the duplicate (older) device from the Mesh until after I installed the client on Win7 RTM. My PC was also named identically under RTM as it was for the beta and RC installs.

I'm having the same error: [80072EE2] The operation timed out.
Attempting install on Windows 7 RC. Currently only have Live Mesh installed on one other Vista PC.
Windows Update works fine in every other respect, so I was surprised to learn that this error is associated with that.
Any suggestions to solve this?Sunday, September 6, 2009 9:44 AM -
AusFish, this is a totally new installation? No other PCs in your Mesh and Live Mesh has never been on this PC?
