Initializing MAPI sub-system error when trying to launch CRM 4.0 after installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • CRM 3.0 was removed for clients PC's.  After the installation of CRM 4.0 a few of the PC's are stopping at "Initializing MAPI sub-system" and a windows pops up with the generic message "An error occurred loading Microsoft Dynamics CRM functionality. Try restarting Outlook"

Event viewer under Application comes up with:

Microsoft CRM had a problem accessing the Microsoft Outlook Application window.  Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again.  HR=0x80004002.  Context=.function=CUIUTil::EnableCRMToolbar.line1146

The clients are Windows XP with SP2, Office 2003 with SP3.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Try this and see if it works

    Close Outlook

Then you need to rename the following folder to another one, c:\documents and settings\<user>\application data\microsoft\outlook (e.g. outlook backup)

Also, check out a few other solutions that were posted.  Some people are having issues with Security Roles that were custom created rather than 'out of the box', others with Firewalls, not having all SQL, OS & Office Updates current, etc.

Did you try running Diagnostics on the machine?  Also, did you try re-configuring the machine.  You can access both of those tools from Programs/Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 on the user machines.
