Product Key and Changing Live ID associated with OneCare RRS feed

  • Question

  • Purchased Live One online but missed the product key to activate token on another PC.  How can I get this key.  Also registered under a live ID that has since been cancelled.  How do I change my live ID in Live OneCare?

  • You can't transfer a subscription from one LiveID to another and you activate all subsequent activations with the same LiveID as you cannot use the product key again.

If your LiveID is still valid, but no longer in use as a Hotmail account, it is still your Billing account and can be used to activate OneCare - sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com to see your subscription. If you can't sign in to see your account (with the LiveID - Subscription ID in Help/About on the first PC), contact support for help -

  • Thanks for the clarification Steve.  Using the correct billing ID worked, just assumed once a hotmail account was closed it was no longer valid for anything.

My second computer in my bedroom is back up and running fine with Live One Care; --  until I get that infamous MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION; which Dell is attempted to fix, several times, with new memory & power supply.  I'm up to a new mother board or processor now!

  • Glad to read that you got OneCare up and running and activated. And good luck with that machine check exception. :-(
