Question

After trying to update windows and in the process installing the new WGA windows now says I have to activate it. The laptop has not been connected to the net ina few months and I dont think it has SP3 on it yet. Its not a new install, its a valid genuine copy of windows XP home installed by Acer on an Aspire1640Z laptop. The lable with the key is stuck to the bottom of the laptop but everytime I try to enter it to activatewindows it says its wrong.

This installation of Windows XP SP2 has been done with a Retail disk (and, presumably, key) - an Acer install would have used a OEM disk and Key.It *may* be possible to change the Key to the one on your COA Sticker by using the Product Key Update Tool here:-
Note that your Office 2007 Enterprise install is using an Invalid License Key also.--
