We are using CRM 2013, on-premise and CRM for Outlook 2013, all updated to SP1.
We have a custom entity, called candidate. Candidate is email enabled, with an email field.
Users can track email to a candidate, but when they attempt to track email from a candidate, they are unable to do so. The error that displays is about the subject of the email not being a valid parent. In the CRM trace log, it shows an error about the "emailFrom"
not being valid. This happens if users track the email, or if they try to "set regarding" for the email.
The documentation I can find on this seems vague. According to this page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/send-and-receive-email-in-crm-for-outlook.aspx it would appear that email from a custom entity CAN be tracked in Outlook.
On the other hand, there are many threads about how custom entities are not valid activity parties and that makes their emails untrackable.
Does anyone know which is correct - are these emails trackable or not? Are we running into a limitation of Dynamics CRM, or is there an issue with our deployment?
Thank you for any insight you can provide!
