edge server deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Let's say we only want LiveMeeting with no audio (will use bridging) and don't want audio.  Would I deploy a consolidated Edge or would I deploy a single-site scaled edge topology with access edge and web conferncing server on the same box and just not install the A/V edge.  There won't be any issues with no deploying the A/V edge, correct?

  • You don't have to deploy the third Edge role on that server.  I'd assume that the client might still offer the options for Audio and Video, but any attempts to use them would fail with some type of error, so keep that in mind regarding user experience and training.

  • Should  not be a problem, but dont forget to set the Global meetings policy to not allow IP Audio and IP Video, to eliminate usage attempts of the service.   This is done within the Forest Properties > "Meetings" > Policy Settings.
