Why is "entire table each time" required on database changes? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using cached database synchronization tracking support between SQL server 2008 and a compact database. The setting "New and incremental changes" works fine when no structural changes are taking place in SQL2008; however, each time I add a field or do some other structural change, I have to select "entire table each time" once in the Configure Data Synchronization Wizard. After doing this once, I can switch back to "new/incremental".

For many tables, this is a nuisance and is frequently forgotten. Is there a way to force a one-time full reload? Or did I miss anything?

  • Can you provide the script/code for this? Need more details.

This may include DB schema scripts as well as Alter operations conducted.

  • Soshan,

    let's try

    • Use the example from here.
    • Add a new field to SQL Server
    • Run the data synchronization wizard again, leaving the setting at "incremental changes"
    • The field is not taken into account. In some cases (could not figure out exactly when), there is an error message.
    • Everything is Ok when you run the wizard again with "synchronize whole table" once only.
