Kb905474 fails install but already installed (several times) RRS feed

  • System running XP Professional (English Intl upg AE CD) with SP3. Automatic update downloads and installs updates ok except for kb905474. This fails  daily, however records show it has been installed successfully 6 times in the past. Simple failure message is replaced by "setup has detected that the service pack version of the system is newer than the update ...." when manually loading. Online WGA diagnostics all pass. running WGADIAG.EXE produces:-

    The main problem therefore seems to be preventing this update being considered to be required and stopping the constant failed attempts at loading.

    Will not load kb905474 in safe mode either.
