Problem with Top Answerers List

Question
-
Hi Gurus,
My name was displayed at 7th position under Top Answerers List in SharePoint Programming forum. But now it wont display my name after migration.
It displays the user who answered for 3 threads. Also I have answred more than 5 threads in last 3 days, still my name is not there.
Thanks,

It is still screwed up. The scores are wildly fluctuating. The best evidence is looking at my scores on the main MSDN page, I appear both in Moderators and regular users with two very different numbers.
Hans Passant.
And has been for some time. We have people on our list who haven't posted for over a year...

You should now be seeing only activity over the last 30 days in the those stats. Also the sorting issue was resolved on 4/3/2009, it was showing "Recent" but sorting by "Total". The only remaining issue that I'm aware of is the discrepancy between lists, where the value for the same user is different between the MVP list and the Overall list. I think that has to do with the list of forums used to aggregate the sum being different for the two lists.

Well, in the VSTO forum I'm seeing (for example) Sue Mosher on the "Recent Moderators" list who hasn't posted since October 2008. Of course, that list doesn't give any time frame...

Geoff Darst MSFT is appearing in "Top Answerers" but not in "Top Microsoft Answerers".

In March 21st, My Total answers were 902, now there are (April 7) 994, in 17 days the difference is 92But in Main MSDN Forum page My total is 76, and thats for 30 days, how is that possible?And that 76 answeres correctely matches with my Visual Basic General Forum answers, Should not that main page be displaying the total of all my answers from all forum?

Taking a snapshot from the forums I contribute to:
Bugs: 10
BCL: 79
CLR: 27
64-bit: none
C# Express: 39
C++ Express: 31
C++ General: 79
C++ Language: 56
WF General: 104
I might have missed a few, not very likely. That adds up to 425 answers. That's about right, although a bit low, for what I normally score during a month.
The main page reports 318 answers as a user, 357 answers as an MVP. Differences with by computed total are 107 and 68. That doesn't correlate well with the theory that the forums software might be missing forum(s).
Notable too is the .NET 64-bit forum. I reports no users with any answers. While I clearly have at least one answer there that should be counted. More.
While my recognition points are severely under-reported, I think they also are for other contributors on the list.

Cindy,
Two things for recent users:
1. We don't currently timebox the recent users lists so it could go back a while
2. "Recent" is not deteremined by posting, it can be triggered simply by reading a thread.
For Geoff Darst, simply putting Msft at the end of one's username wouldn't cause them to be in the MSFT list. He'd have to associate his domain account with his passport account. In the current UI, User Display Name is Green, while Affiliations (MVP, MSFT) follow the display name and are Black.

Hi Nobugz!I agree, I was wondering about your score too, since looking at your activities and points, no of answers does not come any near of it. So I think conclusion is Top Answers list is still out of order. But I am happy since I can see myself there though I am contributing equally since 5 months but never saw myself in that list before the forum got upgraded.Thanks to new version :)

I pulled the latest db yesterday and looked into this points issue. Here's what's going on.
-We have a job the periodically rolls up the Top N Answers by forum+affiliation over the last 30 days. So when you go in to a specific forum, the right rail stuff should be correct.
-On the Category/Forums List page, the query aggreagates each of those Top N lists into a rolled up Top list. And this is where the issue lies.
A simplified example, loosely based on Nobugz :)
MVP Public Answers Rank Rank Bugs: 10 1 11 CLR: 27 2 4 C#: 39 1 1
So for a rollup of all forums we'd end up with:
MVP: 76 answers and rank 1
Public: 66 answers (he didn't make the top 10 in Bugs) and a rank of say 2
Since the aggregate db only contains the top 10 for each forum, that leads to the discrepancy between the two lists.
We'll have to discuss this amongst the team to decide what/when. We'll probably need a Top 10 by Brand/Locale, but that will lead to quite a few combinations that need to be calculated.
Hope this at least helps clarify somewhat.

Thanks Rob, That is very helpfulBut how do you justify this, I answer in 3 forums mostlyPublic RankVisual Basic General : 75 1Visual Basic Language: 24 2Well Visual Basic Express, does not have 10 only 4 and I do not exist there for some reasonso that makes 99 for sure, but aggregation shows 75Did I understand you right?

Hi Rob,
That still doesn't explain the discrepancy in the user vs MVP numbers of my aggregate total. I'm #1 in all the forums I contribute to. And I already showed that there is no possible match by omitting certain forums. Nor does this at all explain why there's no listing for .NET 64-bit.
I don't doubt that it works the way you explained it (needs fixing) but there is still something else wrong.

You are correct, the problem I detailed is part of the issue. The other part is that the stored proc isn't aggregating properly, middle tier and SP were had different assumptions about what was supposed to happen (should've Grouped/Sum'd before Sort/Top). So we'll doing things to take care of both issues.

I didn't want to start a new "Top Answerers" thread, and I think my issue is related, so my apologies if I should have broken this out into a separate thread. I don't think that the "Top Answerers" list has worked in the Windows Workflow Foundation forums since the forum conversion over to social. Matt Milner is the only one that shows up in Top Answerers (he's an MVP, but he's the only one that shows up in either list), with 3 answers in the last 30 days. I dug around to find a few threads where I had answers in the last 30 days, here are some of them:
