Can't validate after re-install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed a new motherboard and processor. When XP Pro would no longer boot, I did a re-install/repair of XP. Now I can boot up, but the XP will not validate. If I click the icon in the tray, it tells me to pay $149. If I run the Validate from the Start menu, it just brings up a box and hangs there.

This is a store bought copy that was previously validated on the same PC.

  • Please "activate" your installation of Windows XP. If you cannot successfully activate via the internet, then choose the alternative option to "activate by phone".

The Activation Wizard displays the toll free number that you can dial.

You can open the Windows Product Activation wizard by clicking Start, then Run, and type in "oobe/msoobe /a", then press the Enter key located on your keyboard.

  • Actually that didn't work either. I bit the bullet and re-ran the install. Everything is fine now.

    Thanks for the ideas.
