    Robots.txt validation tool

    Use this tool to check your robots.txt file for any incompatibilities with MSNBot that may affect how your site is indexed on Live Search .

    You can validate your current robots.txt file or to check any changes you have made to robots.txt before you add that to your site. Learn more

    It says: # Copy the contents of your robots.txt file here to validate it.

    So I copy and paste:

    <?xml version="1.0" ?>

  •  Hi Jeffrey,

    What you pasted there is your Webmaster tools validation code which is not part of your robots.txt. With only a sitemap link in your robots.txt, I wouldn't be too worried about validation (it is correct now). If you need help validating your site so that you can access our tools, be sure to place the code you used in an xml file and save the file as LiveSearchSiteAuth.xml in the root of your site.

    Cheers!
