Outlook 2007 File Size RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have MS Office 2007 on my desktop and laptop and have the same issue with the size of the Outlook .pst file.  I have gone in and deleted emails from most of the folders.  I have removed over 3000 emails which is on the order of 20%/30% of the total.  I also removed 95% of the emails that were 1MB or over.  You would think that the size of the .pst backup would shrink in size.  The new backup .pst file is not 1kb smaller on either computer.  The other issue I have is that there is a 150MB difference between the desktop and laptop versions of the Outlook files.  I used the same approach for deleting emails and would expect the .pst files to be much closer in size (660MB vs. 813MB).  Is there a reason for the .pst file not reflecting the email reduction?
