I have a silver star/balloon icon in my tray that keeps saying not genuine. However, when i go to validate thru ms it validates me, my computer downloaded and installed updates yesterday and today, i have never had a problem before. Have XP home. Want to get rid of this nuisance balloon icon. When I re-boot my computer it tells me I am not genuine. I have a Dell Demension, purchased directly from Dell, so know all is genuine. Can you help please. Can I post my Diagostic Data here for you to see? I am new at this and not sure.
Thank you.

Then re-boot Windows. Does this solve your problem?

No it did not. I made a system restore point before downloading the link you gave me. I downloaded the above link, my system re-booted, and I got a fatal error message. So I manually turned off computer and waited a few minutes, came back up in safe mode and still got fatal message. So re-booted again in safe and did a system restore. Computer now working fine again, still have silver balloon that says I am not legal. Since my computer seems to be downloading the updates fine should I just ignore this until MS has the chance to fix with a patch?Saturday, June 17, 2006 5:19 PM
