Windows Reinstall

Question

I can't reinstall after having to reinstall my operating system. It keeps prompting me to subscribe and then will not take my token. Then it keeps sending me around in circles. What do I need to do I have paid for a year and wasted 3 months playing with One Care.

When you reinstall OneCare you cannot use the retail product key again as it has already been used to activate a subscription. Reinstalls are performed using the same LiveID used to create the original subscription. This is also true for installing on a 2nd and 3rd PC for your subscription.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate the reinstall.

Because my older version of OneCare stopped working tonight, I had to uninstall and reinstall the program. Once it was up and running again, it's asking for me to subscribe. According to all documentation here on the web, I am supposed to sign up with my existing Live ID. Well, I'm successfully logged into my account at the OneCare WEBSITE, but when I try to use that same information on the OneCare program, it tells me I have an invalid username or password.
I changed my password on the OneCare WEBSITE and tried again, and again the same thing happened. I can log into my account on the web, but I can't use that same info to subscribe to my existing service in the actual OneCare program.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

During activation and login, if you are pasting your email and password into the boxes, please type them manually and advise if that works.
One other thing to check is if you are using a complex password, longer than 8 characters and/or containing characters other than letters and numbers, go to http://account.live.com and change it to a simple password temporarily. Then try to activate once again. If it is successful, go back and change the password to your preferred complexity. Some people have reported that this works for them.
