Home Desktop now states Windows 7 not genuine..... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here is the report below from the D-Tool.

Note, I recently had a problem with the Windows updater causing me to lose my connection settings.    Microsoft Help had me download windows software and reinstall.   I'm guessing that I need to somehow validate this per the sticker on the side of my PC??   I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Gateway Desktop.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • You are still using the default key that Setup uses when the user installs without entering a product key.  That key cannot be used to activate Windows.

The 30-day grace period for activating your Home Premium has expired.

Notification Reason: 0xC004F009 (grace time expired).

If you are using the OEM copy that originally came with computer then activate with the COA product key on the sticker.  If you are using a retail copy then activate with the product key on the label inside the dvd case.  If you purchased online then logon to your Microsoft Store account and retrieve the key there.
