  • Question

  • In the even that the system hard drive / partition goes bad, what can be done to recover data?

Is there a way to backup the backups & shares?

  • Hi,

If you read the documentation, there is a good explanation of the process. Essentially however, as long as you have more than one drive and duplication enabled, then when you install your new system drive and boot from the DVD, then you will be offered two choices, one of which is 'Re-Installation'. This option will install the operating system, and then rebuild all the pointers etc to your data. You will then have to enable your Clients, Add-Ins and any personal customisations.

Also, if you have the new PowerPack installed, then it has the facility to manually back up your Shared Folders to another drive.

  • Thanks for your quick response.

I want to point out that it is the WHS Drive Extender document that gives helpful hints for this question.
