CLR error: 80004005 RRS feed

  • Question

  •

When I try to run SyncToy (either 1.4 or 2.0) on my computer, I get an error message that says "CLR error: 80004005, The program will now terminate." I'm running Windows XP Home and have used SyncToy in the past with no problems. Can anyone help me? I really liked using SyncToy as my backup, but now I can't!

  • This is likely to be a corrupted/incorrect .net version. Can you try uninstalling the .net framework v 2.0 and then reinstalling it?

  • Are you sure that error has been produced using SyncToy 1.4?

1.4 and 2.0 are using completely different sync engines. This error is typically only seen on 2.0 and caused by uninstalling SQL CE. Could you install (or repair) SQL CE and let me know if the problem goes away?

  •

one way is to uninstall SyncToy 2.0 and reinstall it.

another way is to download from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?&FamilyID=7849b34f-67ab-481f-a5a5-4990597b0297&DisplayLang=en

  • I have installed and uninstalled SyncToy 2.0 multiple times (with rebooting in between the uninstall and install). I tried downloading the SQL server you linked to above and then reinstalling SyncToy 2.0 and I still get the same error.
