Contact users outside a thread / Forum Messages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, are there any plans to implement a forum messaging system?

Especially as a moderator i often would like to contact somebody outside the official forum. For instance, sometimes i would like to remind somebody about the rules or give newbies tips on how to post, but refrain from doing so, because i don't want to "hijack" or clutter an ongoing thread. Other times, i have no choice but to act and to delete a post, but I can't explain it to the user privately. If i want to tell him, i have to do so in public, which isn't very nice and certainly not the best way to make someone understand.

If not a general message system, at least a way for moderators to leave a private message on the users profile page would be good.

    regards, Denniver

  • Yes, there are plans but no eta, we are also looking at making something like this platform wide, probably attached to the profile but accessible from forums and the rest of our online apps.

  • Sounds great. The latter at least, the first part ("no eta"): not so much. :)

I take it , we are talking years rather than months right?

    thanks, Denniver

Months are better than years. =^)

No ETA means he can't really answer that question, but yes, months are being considered first.

    Thanks!
