  • Issue with out of process ActiveX developed using VB6

We have an out of process ActiveX or COM resides and registered in directory called

‘c:\ABC Group\ActiveX’. The ActiveX file name is ‘GetData.exe’ (c:\ABC Group\ActiveX\GetData.exe). I also have program file called ABC.exe in the root of directory C: (c:\ABC.exe).

When a client application instantiate the out of process ActiveX (GetData), the Windows operating system was trying to instantiate c:\ABC.exe.

When we remove or rename the ABC.exe file name then it instantiates the ActiveX correctly.

    It happens in Windows 2008R2 64bit, Windows 10 64bit.

  • VB6 has been out of support for going on 10 years now and as such the microsoft forums are long gone. I'd try them over here or others you can search for.
