It says I am Validated but.... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought Vista last week, Premium Home 32 bit version retail from Amazon direct. Full green box and everything, not an OEM.
Installed fine, but I wanted to get the 64 bit version and according both to the Vista website and the stuff in the box I can order a dvd from Microsoft for basically postage. I validate my version, go to the order page, type in the code and get "Offer not found".
After trying Internet Explorer after Firefox and getting the same thing I go to contact email support, did the product number and.... "The product ID number you entered is not valid or is not in the correct format. Please enter a valid product ID number and try again."

Several tries later making sure each number is exact, and different browsers they all do the same. The way to order the 64 bit version you can get to through different microsoft web pages and thinking maybe one is busted I tried that but all the same.
What can I do to get my 64 bit DVD?
Posting my results here on my version.

  • Hi Zerbyte75,

This Forum is for the support of Vista Activation and Validation issues only.

That being said, I did do some research and I found that you can:

    1) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/64bit.mspx

    2) Scroll to the bottom where it says 64-bit DVD, select your language preference and click the "Go" button.

    3) On the next page select your country and then click the "Order Now" button.

    4) Notice that under the "Order Now" button there are two links labeled:

"If you have questions, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions page".

"If you need assistance, please refer to the Support Options page".

If you have any problems with ordering the 64-bit DVD, please come back to this page and click either of the links for additional assistance.

    5) On the next page, enter the Product Key that came with your Retail copy of Vista 32-bit.

    6) Next, enter the characters seen in the picture. (Note: there are two buttons next to the picture, clicking the top one with make the page verbally read the characters to you and the bottom button will refresh the picture with new charactures).

    7) Now click the "Continue" button and follow the rest of the directions to complete your order.

    8) If you have any problems, please refer to step #4 (above).

    I hope this helps,

    Darin Smith
