  • Hi,
I have decided to train for the MCSE certification but in desperate need of how to go about it, I learnt you need to pass seven exams to get certified.  Which are the best and most cost effective training resources/books I need to get prepared for the exams?.
Please help with any information regarding this.
    Thanks.

First you need to decide which Server Operating System you want to focus on. It would be in your best interest to focus on a Server Operating System that you have in house, or plan to upgrade to. For examples, we are running Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and we are in the infant stages for planning our upgrade to Windows Server 2008. So if I was going to obtain a new certification, I would pursue my MCSE on Windows Server 2003. You can find out more information on the MCSE here:

Here is one of the best places for books to learn the basics:

Most of the books here will give you a solid base to learn the technology; however they will not help much with reading and understanding exam questions. My advice to you is to setup a lab, take practice exams, and figure out how your work environment can help you learn and master the technology.
