Syncing Tasks from CRM to Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to map additional fields that sync with Outlook as far as Tasks in CRM go?  Ex: when I sync with Outlook from CRM the tasks come up but when they go to my Blackberry, there is very limited information that comes over.  I would like to show the Account name and the contact phone number along with the data that is currently being synced.

    Thanks,
    Ben

  • You would have to extend the applications to make this happen using the guidelines of the SDK, probably for both CRM and Outlook.  Another option would be to add some javascript to the activity form and put the data values that you want in one of the fields that currently syncs to Outlook and displays on your mobile device.

  • As David, Scott, and Donna pointed out, you can't extend the fields that are mapped btw CRM and Outlook.  Best idea is to use jscript or workflow and concatenate the details from the account, contact, phone nubmer, etc into something like the description field of the task, that way they will show up on your blackberry.

  •  The only supported option is, as Donna suggests, to put the data values into one of the fields that syncs with Outlook - you could either do this with client script, or a plugin. There's no way to customise which fields get synched with Outlook

  • As David mentioned - not all fields are mapped, but you could re-purpose one of the mapped fields -

Here is a listing of the fields that are mapped between CRM and Outlook - http://blog.customereffective.com/blog/2008/02/crmoutlook-sync.html
