Top Answerers? Why only moderators are shown as top answerers ?

Question
-
Hi,
After the last upgrade why is it that only the Moderators of a forum shown in the top answerers??
Is it that you donot want others to answer the questions and be recognized??
I am an active member of SSIS forum and I dont see any one other than the moderators in the list??
I donot understand the reason for this.. is it intended or an error?
If its intended I would like to know the reason behind this................
Hope this helps !! Please close the threads once answered - Sudeep

We have posted a fix to the Top Answerers lists to our CTP environment: http://ctp.social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/reportabug/threads Please take a look and confirm or report back on any issues not resolved for these lists.
Re: self un propose, we logged a DCR on this to ensure people that propose and un propose on a given post. No ETA for that yet.
In the future, please avoid mixing up various different issues in single threads so they don't get lost. If you have a new issue or question, start a new thread please.

It's by design that MSFT guys answers are not counted in top answerers. There were complaints that "normal" people weren't visible on the Top Answerers Lists because those lists were all dominated by (MS) people who were paid to give support.

Community moderators are normal people too. We've got regular jobs, can't spend 40 hours per week answering questions. This new bug is not triggered by whether or not the contributor is a moderator. I'm seeing normal normal people still being listed. Looks to me it's back to seeing too much history, past 30 days.

Hi Moderators,

As i have more then 15 answers in last 30 days but it is not showing in the list whereas the person having 5 answers are still displaying in list.
Please look into this matter again :)

You have a valid point, I see that you have at least 8 answers in the last 30 days in the SSIS Forum.

So, you're asking for a list of people that post a lot but whose answers suck so bad they rarely get an answer. You want to be on it?

No.

Update: We've identified the problem and working on a solution. The bug itself is not on the UI rather in the backend DB servers. Part of fixing this issue is lessening the complexity of the Forums app. We're working on backend sql db changes to improve aggregation performance and preventing any issues in the future. We're looking into applying the fix in our September release which would be at the end of September.
Thanks for the patience on this.

Thank you.
I cannot unpropose anything, nor can I mark as "unhelpful".
Also, I can quote myself which may be fine in other places that use PHP for example but for here, this is too elaborate I feel even though there is a drive towards simplification it still flies in the face of a rich yet elegant experience in my view.

That one seems to be a bug to me. You should be able to unpropose your post.

Hi Don,
The thread initiator or the Forum moderator does have access to unpropose the answer.
Is this request ment for any one can unpropose an answer proposed by someone??
Hope this helps !!

I'd say it would only be for posts initiated by the respondent

My name still doesn't show on the Visual C++ General and on the Visual C++ Language forums.
As of now, since the start of the month, I've got on each forum :
Visual C++ General - 16 answers (last one on the list has 2)Visual C++ Language - 5 answers (last one on the list has 2)

Stop adding spam to the forum by "proposing" ok, please only do it once and only provide ONE answer, not several and if you must have a "helpful" replies section.
Microsoft you really screwed it up this time I'm afraid. -

How can someone know the number of answers per forum? I could not find this feature. Also I think the top answerers in T-SQL forum are not correct. The first part seems to be correct, but then there is too big of a gap, which doesn't seem right.

Hi Scant,
First and fore most Marking ur post to the thread u initiate does not give u any points.
If I feel that my post answers my query I have the perimission to mark my post as answer.
If this is un acceptable to you you may raise this as a suggestion in the suggestions forum. In that case only the moderators will answer are you OK with that.
At least I am not OK with that.
About this thread, There are people who are still complaining that the issue is not resolved so I am unmarking the answers I had marked earlier to keep this thread open.
Hope this helps !!

Hey.
I was mucking around but you probably knew that.
This is my point though, marking and unmarking all adds unnecessary text to the page.
There needs to be some clearly defined rules, someone eg a Project Management team need need to sit down and ask themselves what they actually want from this place in totality, ie if there is to be a variation between MSDN, Technet, Answers etc.
How it is now is almost completely haphazard, plenty of features, not much in the way of consistency in terms of experience which is what Microsoft is meant to be about. -

Hi All,
We do have a fix in place. In fact, we've deployed the fix to another environment where I'd like folks to verify the top answerers list. We're still setting up this environment for public access and will get back once it's ready for preview.

There are many folks in the Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility forum that appear to be MS staff, but their accounts aren't tagged as being from MS. So many of them still clog up the main "top answerers" list.
(I think a lot of these same folks hang out in many Win7 groups, so it's probably not just this list that they're impacting)

I don't want to muddy the waters, but what about being able to quote oneself multiple times?
There was a time when, if you changed your name as I have that the website tried to change it for every single post, quotes included, obviously that was bad, as is this.
Also bad is I click quote or reply and it takes me to sign in, then I'm just left standing there having to click again.
Stupid this place is! -
