Project Server 2010 - Business Intelligence - Sample reports - no data

Question
-
When we click on "SimpleProjectsList" report, I don't see any data. When I select "Refresh All connections", it throws out an error message "An error occured while accessing application Id ProjectServerApplication....... project server - Simple project List". However if I click on "open in excel", we do see the data and there are no issues. Any help on this

Hi Sanjeev,
It sounds like the secure store is not configured correctly. When you connect via the Excel client you connect directly bypassing the secure store service, hence why it works in the client.
Did you follow the exact instructions as outlined at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662106.aspx#section4 ? Specifically make sure you have the case sensitive entry entered and set the credentials correctly.

Step 9:Go to Excel Service in Sharepoint Central admin and you need to configure two files:-
Trusted File Location – Sample reports and Template in PWA both will come under this.
Trusted Data Connection Libraries-Data Connection
Step 10:- File Trusted Location for sample reports.
Go back to Central administration – Manage Service-Excel Services – Trusted File Location as give bellow
Move back to PWA Site-Business Intelligence Center-Sample Reports and Copy the bellow mentioned URL and paste inside the Address tab of File Trusted Location
http://epm/PWA/ProjectBICenter/Sample%20Reports

Step 12:- Trusted Data Collection Libraries
Go to Data connection Library in the PWA Site-Business Intelligence-Data Connection Library and Copy the Library path and paste inside Central Administration-Excel Service- Trusted Data Collection Libraries. As mentioned the bellow Screen Shot.

Go to Business Intelligence->Data connection library->English united States folder->Click on Edit Property->Left click on English United States->Property->copy the address URL
Step 13:- Secure Store ServicesProblem
Configuring Excel Services in SharePoint 2007 is fairly simple. However, in SharePoint 2010, Microsoft has changed the "Unattended Service Account" to use an "Application ID" from the "Secure Store Service Application". If you don't setup an Unattended Service Account then all of your data connections in Excel will need the credentials within the connection or will need to revert to the current user.
Configuring the "Unattended Service Account" means you can set your authentication on the Excel data connection to None and use the credentials in the Secure Store Service application instead. This is an easy step to miss.
1.For first time generate a key
Enter your Pass Phrase in the Pass Phrase and Conform Pass Phrase boxes
2.Create A ProjectServerApplication ID:
Note: the name of application should be same as above only (ProjectServerApplication)
In the "Create New Secure Store Target application" page, enter the following:
o Target Application ID: ProjectServerApplication
o Display Name: ProjectServerApplication
o Contact Email: whatever@whatever.com (Use a real address)
o Target Application Type: Group
3.Set credential Now4.Enter domain\SqldataAcess user in windows Name.
Enter The password and Confirm the same.
After that Yepee problem solved
