Parental Controls RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I would like to put a parental control timer on my pc but I don't think that Windows OneCare has this function, can i use other software like

    Time Boss http://www.nicekit.com/parental-control-software.htm

    or SentryPC http://www.sentrypc.com/sentrypc.htm

or will theses interfere with the running OneCare?

Or do you have any other suggestions?

    Regards

  • Hello Martin, those programs should not conflict with One Care. You might also take a look at Windows Live One Care Family Safety - http://get.live.com/familysafety/overview

  • I intend to continue to use third-party antivirus software on my computer with a new DSL Windows Live connection. As a result I don't want OneCare for antivirus protection but I would like to use One Care Family Safety.

Is Family Safety separate from the rest of OneCare? Or can it be installed and/or activated separately from the rest of OneCare?

    Thanks

  • Hello Martin, One care Family Safety is a separate program and can be used with the security software of your choice.

  • You said Family safety can be used with the security software of your choice but I have discovered that it cannot be used with the Vista version of Norton Internet Security 2009. This was confirmed by Symantec through an online chat with their help desk.

  • Jim's answer was that you can choose what other security software to use. He didn't state that all security software would work with the OneCare Family Safety software. Apparently, Norton has a conflict with it and there may well be others.
