Windows Live OneCare ending? RRS feed

  • Question

  •     I have the trial version of OneCare Live and was planning on subscribing until I read that sales of subscriptions will end at the end of June 2009. It is supposed to be replaced by a free service called Morro. I'm guessing this it not news to anyone here but what will that do to my subscription which will be about halfway completed by then? Unfortunately this free service isn't supposed to include all the services that OneCare Live has now.

  • Subscriptions will be fully supported through the end of 2010.
New subscriptions and renewals will no longer be allowed some time after June 2009.
As the announcement states, more information will be communicated as we near that time. We don't know what Morro will include, nor what the actual transition plans will be. We know that there are features of OneCare that people use and like, so going to a product that is only protection from malware doesn't answer all of their needs. I would hope that the information provided in the future will outline offers for these missing features.
