W7 Home Premium illegally upgraded to W7 Ultimate. How to revert to the original ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

a friend of mine here in Spain bought a new computer in a respectable store.

He asked them if they could provide the originally Spanish Windows to an English version. They would do that.
So when he picked it up it was in English.

However after a few months the GA messages started appearing. Now updates, of course, are being withheld.

After looking into his computer I found out that what they most probably have done, is insert an Ultimate key in the Anytime upgrade, to be able to switch to an English versoin of the OS.

Is there any way to revert back to the originally installed W7 Home premium version. Or in other words, could this upgrade be made undone. For example by going into the Anytime Upgrade and put in the original key, which is on the bottom of his laptop?.

Or is the only way to buy a new legitimate version and do a complete format and reinstall session?.

    Thanks beforehand.

    A.  Yes, that is your most viable option.  You would need to purchase a genuine "Full English Version" of Windows 7.
