Can I use a 4tb drive to replace the client backup drive in whs2011? RRS feed

  • Q. I have a few computers.. All the drives in the machines are < 2TB. I have 3 drives in my WHS (OS 250gb), Client backups (2tb), WHS backup (4tb). My client backup drive is full.

    Can I use a 4tb drive to replace the client backup drive?

  • Hi,

    You can replace the current disk with a bigger one, or, just attach the new one to extend the current disk space. Detail operation depends on your current disk allocation situation.

    Besides, it is recommended to run the backup database cleanup task to periodically delete old backups, in order to save more free disc space. 

    Also remember to check the backup configuration of computers to assure all of your data is backed up properly.
