  • Hello Tromba,

When you attempt to run Windows Update it will validate BOTH Windows XP and Office, if either (or both) do not pass validation you will get the results you are seeing right now.  If you would like to run Windows Update then please uninstall Office and this will resolve your issue.  Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • Tromba,

FYI, the mga diag utility is showing that your installed copy of Office is nongenuine:  Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2

Regarding the update problem, your situation is almost identical to the problem addressed in this thread:  http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2795882&SiteID=25

Please work thru the suggested fixes in the thread, and post back to tell us if it worked for you.

    Hi Dan.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

Firstly,  not sure why Office is showing up as nongenuine as I have been able to update it in in the past.  (However, thats another issue)

The issue I am trying to fix,  is that I cannot validate windows and hence run windows update, windows defender etc..

I tried ALL the things mentioned in the thread :  http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2795882&SiteID=25

I got exactly the SAME responses as Bob Woodsom  (inclduing failing with Part 1 and Part 2  with msxml3.dll)

Where do I go from here to fix this problem  ??

    This is very frustrating .

    Thanks.
