Windows 7 Activation canceled. Product Key blocked RRS feed

  • Question

  • In March 2010, I bought an HP Pavillon Elite HPE with Windows 7 Home Premium (or sim.).

Still in March, I upgraded online from a company called Windows Warehouse to Windows 7 Professional. The activation with Microsoft worked fine and so did my PC till yesterday, when it started to tell me that my copy of Windows is not genuine, that I might be a victim of software couterfeiting and that my copy of Windows is no longer activated. As I tried to reactivate it, I was told that my key has been blocked!

I would like to know why this happens, why it happens now, after six months of good and loyal service and what I can do to solve my problem without having to buy a new licence.

Here's the result of the diagnostic I just ran on my PC

  • Hi, I hate to tell you this but you have been scamme by Windows Warehouse. The key they sold you was a key derived from a developer account that was fraudulently accessed or purchased. The key was probably sold over and over again until the WAT database was updated and flagged the key. Please read the following sticky for more information.

    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285

This code means the key has been blocked

    HrOnline: 0xC004C4A2

The highlighted and bold portion of the PID is indicative of an MSDN W7 PRO key.
