One Care for Server RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I saw that there's already OneCare for Server and can manage and monitor up to 25 machines. Now the question is what happens when I have exceeded the 25 machines? Say I have 26, will OneCare be installed but will not be managed by OneCare for Server? To cut it short, what do I do if I have more than 25 computers but less than 30 computers? What are my options?

    Thanks.

  • Unfortunately, the previous reply doesn't answer your question and I can't say that I have a definitive answer. Any non-domain joined PCs that are on your network can be using OneCare from a regular retail 3 PC license. Once it is domain joined, it can only be protected by the Server/Client package.

I suspect that you can probably purchase additional 25 seat subscriptions, but I'm not aware of any 5 seat package offerings. Since a single SBS 2008 server can support 75 CALs, I suspect that you should be able to purchase 3 subscription packs. However, I can't say how these would integrate with the single server license in that these would all be on the same subscription/LiveID, or if we are running into the same issue that currently exists with the retail version where a single LiveID can only have a single 3 license subscription associated with it. Your best bet would probably be to contact a local Small Business Specialist - http://www.microsoft.com/sbs/en/us/find-partner.aspx or SBS support - http://www.microsoft.com/sbs/support/ for a definitive answer.
