  • Unfortunately, it appears someone used a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation disc to install Windows 7 on your Dell Inpiron 518 PC which was built in 2008, almost a year befor Dell began offering Windows 7 on their computers.  Please visit Dell Recovery Discs to order the correct Windows operating system.

Your machine is too old to have a Windows 7 OEM_SLP license – it does have one for Vista, to judge from the Windows Marker.
Someone at some stage has installed a copy of Windows 7 using a Recovery disk from a later Dell model – this is not legal.

You will need to revert back to the original installed OS, using the proper Recovery media for that machine.

Continuing to use the machine in a non-genuine state means that you will not get anything other than Security Updates through Windows Updates, and that if you have MSE installed, it will switch off after 30 days of non-genuine status. Certain other functions on the machine will also be locked out, although general usability will be OK.
