Are I am locked at "answers.microsoft.com" ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I added yesterday 3 comments in "Send us your feedback on MSI Installer!" and all the comments showed up.

Today none of the comments are there anymore and I am also not able to add new comments. I only get the message “Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again.”
These comments where technical nature, complaints but not rude or impolite.

Before that I tried to start a new discussion, but when I hit the submit button it only grays out and nothing happens.
I tried it several times and on different browsers with no success.

I also noticed that older comments and even whole discussions which I created disappeared.

Are I am locked at "answers.microsoft.com", or are they having problems with their software?

  • The thing is, I cannot post there...

The Button just gets greyed out after I hit it and nothing happens.

  • You may have to create a new account so you can ask over there.

  • Which browser are you using? There are known issues with exotic browsers on exotic machines (like Safari on iPad).

Try the usual manipulations (clear cookies, cache ..., incognito mode)

  • I have tried it Firefox 62.0.3 as well as IE 11.

In the meanwhile my comments and threads are showing up again, but I am still not able to comment.

The error message "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again.” is not very meaningfull.
Wy does MS not make a clear error message there?

  • Good news, I'd report this feedback on microsoft.answers.com There is no connection between MSDN/TechNet forums and answers site.

  • I just created a test post over there successfully. If you cannot post then I'd suggest creating a new account so you can ask for help over there.

  • Interesting thing: I was also able to create a test post there which I later edited with my original content.

I just noticed that the "Category" changed on its own from "Community Participation Center" to Skype when I added my content there.
Maybe they are scanning the content and searching fot the right category, even when I startet the post from the "Community Participation Center" section. It did not help to change it back to "Community Participation Center".

  • That "Community participation center" looks like a wrong place.

With MSI questions, please come here to MSDN forums. If you want to give feedback... not sure if anyone there wants to listen. There's no longer Connect, and various teams use other platforms, from Uservoice to Github. So much for "One Microsoft".

  • It has something to do with some text in links which are included in the post.

It looks as if this is a well known problem since at least one month, but it is still not fixed.

No one is responding in this "Community Participation Center" on the reported problems.
How to go ahead from there?

I'm not aware of other methods to contact microsoft answers forums support. Users tend to ignore older threads so might try creating a new thread.
