Revoke Edit rights of user after item creation - SharePoint 2013

  Hi,

  I need to revoke user's 'Edit' rights on an item, after the user's item is approved by his manager. This is the first level of approval in the designer workflow that we have, and there are 2 more levels of approvals after this.

  If I call a SharePoint 2010 workflow from this workflow to modify/remove item level permissions, after Manager's approval, the 2013 workflow gets cancelled.

  Please suggest a solution.
