Outlook Connector keeps asking me to upgrade over and over again RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am re-installing Outlook Connector version 12.1 on my Windows XP Professional Edition, Office 2003 machine, I get in this endless loop that says:

"To continue accessing your mail using Microsoft Office Outlook, you must upgrade to the latest version of Outlook Connector.  If you choose to upgrade now, Microsoft Outlook will close and restart."

I choose to upgrade, go through the download cycle, then start up Outlook 2003 (version 11.8313.8221) again, it asks me for my hotmail password, then up comes the dialog box (above) again.  Over and over.  I must have done it about 10 times now - (isn't that the definition of insanity?)

Does anyone have any clues on how to get this fixed?

  • I am having the same problem.  I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with Office 2007 32-bit.

  • I had this problem tonight with a friend of mine.  I found a solution elsewhere that seemed to work.

There are multiple versions of Outlook Connector out there - two for Outlook 2007 and now that Office 2010 is just around the corner there are now two versions for it as well (32bit and 64bit versions of Outlook Connector).

Since Outlook 2007 is 32bit, download the 32bit version of OC for Office 2010 and install it.  Once you install it, it may prompt you again to upgrade again but this is to the very latest version 14+ of OC.  Thereafter it worked fine for my friend.

The link to Outlook Connector for Office 2010 is:

    for 64bit version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=8a31fbf4-f4bf-4751-954b-5b36d80ec375

    for 32bit version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=39db2b89-af2e-41f9-a175-f93e1377959f

On their pages it states that it supports Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010.

Hopefully this will work for you as well.

  • Thanks, that seemed to take care of the issue.  It's great to have some insightful people on this forum willing to lend their expertise.
