Windows XP home Edition Locating product key on my laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just recieved a laptop for christmas, and I do have Microsoft Word 2007 along with the other Microsoft 2007 programs, but as they all do, I was asked for my product key. I've searched, and located it on a label on the bottom of my laptop, but when entered it is saying that it is the incorrect key. Is there someone who knows where I maybe able to locate my product key on my laptop?

  • Hello whoaitsbrandi,

Yours is a very common question.

The product key printed on the Certificate of Authenticity for Windows XP Home Edition affixed to the bottom of your laptop is valid ONLY for the Windows XP Home on your laptop computer.  It is not expected to work to activate the Trial of Office 2007 installed on the laptop, nor is it expected to convert the Trial license to a perpetual license for Office 2007.
