WHS 2011 Restore Failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • I backup 7 PC’s all running Windows 7 to a WHS 2011.  I like to check the integrity of the backups by periodically running the Dashboard restore which mounts the backups as network drives on my primary PC.  Recently, that mounting process will not complete.  All of the backups are good and can be restored using the WinPE restore tool.   All of the backups can be mounted to any of my other PC’s.  A little like the old WHS V1 problem, the restore runs to 81% and then fails with the following error messages, “The restore process did not succeed. The system could not find the path specified.”  The WHS log indicates that the restore completed correctly.  The PC log indicates that the “network drive” was mounted and then immediately dismounted.  Seems to me that the issue has something to do with mounting the restore network drive.  I believe that the 81% point is where this mounting process begins.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
