  • When we try to add a user to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 from a trusted parent domain, we receive the following error message:

    >Unable to get DNS name of domain <parent domain name>: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No such host is known
    > at System.Net.Dns.GetAddrInfo(String name)
    > at System.Net.Dns.InternalGetHostByName(String hostName, Boolean includeIPv6)
    > at System.Net.Dns.GetHostEntry(String hostNameOrAddress)

    Any experience pls help us this...

  • Try adding the user manually into the appropriate CRM AD groups (UserGroup, ReportingGroup) and then add the user into CRM.

  • Hi,

    From the crm server, verify you can ping the other trusted domain.  Form the error above it appears to that you can not resolve the other domain dns. 

    Depending on the active directory configuration, the workaround may be to add an entry to your hosts file on the crm server so the crm server can resolve the trusted domain.

    Also, try adding the user as: 

    domain\username    (use netbios domain name -- the short name and not domain.com)
    username@domain.com (this is the upn of the user)
