Right. Is there any way I can identify the cause?

Since my copy is genuine and have tried all the ways to fix any failures, what can be the cause?

What happens if you try validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate ?

  • Your Windows is licensed.

    License Status: Licensed
An activation problem would not affect computer perfomance in any case.  A hardware or software problem could cause an intermittent non-genuine message, however.  In any case you need to try a recent System Restore point to see if a software glitch has developed that can be fixed that way.  Click Start and type "system restore".
The best forum to use is probably the Answers System Repair and Recovery forum at
Also, you may have developed a hardware problem.  Specifically a hard drive problem.  If you recently moved a desktop then make sure all the cards are seated properly.

  • Thanks for the information. Leave aside the computer performance, I still get the message on the bottom right of my desktop saying that the copy of my windows is not genuine despite you saying that my windows is licensed.

I have tried the system restore but the white printed message remained on the bottom right. Is there any way I can get rid of that?

    Thanks in advance.

  • You cannot get rid of the message without getting rid of the cause.
