  • Hi Imran,

Crm Development can done using CRM API that comes with CRM SDK and with CRM Web Service's which require MS CRM Deployment on some machine. It's not require that you install CRM on your machine, you can access CRM web service in case of CRM server is installed on another machine. but it will be great if you will setup your crm dev environment for your development.

  • Hi Imran,

you can download MS CRM 4.0 trial version to install in your system but for that you need windows server check this link

    for system requirements http://www.microsoft.com/spain/dynamics/crm/producto/requisitos_sistema.mspx

CRM 4.0 SDK will be best you to start for the development, you will get lot's of Client Side as well as Server side samples there.

For CRM 4.0 SDK, i don't think so there is some pre-requirements.

Also if you belongs to some MS partner then you can download CRM 4.0 VPC, in that case you don't need to install CRM 4.0 in your system.

to download VPC check this link http://www.tekoppele.com/Blog/post/2009/04/17/Microsoft-Dynamics-CRM-40-VPC-%282009-Edition%29.aspx

Also you can refer online crm book available at http://www.redware.com/mscrm/handbook/

  • Thanks Mahain.

But my question is still there.

Do i need Dynamics CRM 4.0 for development? Or i can just start development with CRM SDK on Windows XP platform?

Because if Dynamic CRM 4.0 is required for development, then there a complete list of related things need to install on a Windows Server platform.

No doubt, I understand that in any case, after developing something, i definitely deploy it on server but before deploying, can i develop something for CRM 4.0 as we do in our routine .NET development. We normally just requires and IDE i.e. Visual Studio, .NET Framework and relevant SDK.

    Please coordinate.

  • I mran its not the case with CRM.

All developments of CRM is metadata and other crm services dependent .
Its not mendateory that you must install CRM on your dev system
But you need a CRM server access so you can reffer to its services, its metadate or what ever you want to develop.
     - can be a add-on for crm
     - jascript code for crm form
     - Pluing or workflow assembly for crm written in .net
     - custom aspx pages

But for all these you need to look into crm or more spacificaly into crm organization for which you want to develop.
SDK just includes samples, book, refferences DLL's.

So recomended is you must setup your dev CRM envoirnment.
