What is the diff. between Remote Desktop in Vista and Win7

Question
-
On a dual boot system that sits behind an Http Proxy server, I can, from the outside connect to Vista running Live Mesh, but I cannot connect to my Win7 boot. Live Mesh shows the system as online, but not connect option. I enabled Remote Desktop and opened the port to the firewall.
What is new and different with Win7 that is stopping me from connecting?
Where is a list of all the issures that I need to be aware of for Remote Desktop to Win7 over Live Mesh?Sunday, July 19, 2009 11:13 AM

Okay, then. The Live Mesh team is looking into a variety of reported problems with Remote Desktop that appear to have been introduced with the last update. You are apparently imapcted by this and it isn't an issue with Win7 vs. Vista or your proxy server. If the server is not authenticated, it should work on both Win7 and Vista as you found earlier with Vista.
You can file a bug report, if desired, to make sure that it isn't a local issue, but I have a feeling that we'll be seeing another client update in the future to address the many RD issues that cropped up recently.

There should be no difference at all. In fact, it is interesting that you can connect to Vista though a proxy server, unless the proxy server is not authenticated.
There is no list of issues for Win7 Live Mesh remote desktop.
You may not receive a reply, but you can submit a bug report:

I checked today, I am now unable to connect even to Vista now.... since the last Live Mesh update.. or maybe even the one before that. Looks like they updated something related to the Remote Desktop configuration.
Yes, the proxy server is not authenticated. They only let registered systems (via MAC address) to connect to the outside.
I was surprised, before, when I could connect using Live Mesh's Remote Desktop... because my Vista, of the dual boot system behind the http proxy server is Vista Premium... which doesn't allow Remote Desktop connections to begin with.
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Not sure I can submit it as a bug, but would like to submit it as a wishful feature.Monday, July 20, 2009 8:18 AM -

Something happened overnight... now I can connect to the Vista Premium... but not Win7... or maybe I should wait overnight for it too.
I wonder.... if I can connect over an http proxy then there must be some other port used and not 3389.
I'll have to make sure the program is set in the firewall and not just the port.Tuesday, July 21, 2009 12:23 AM -

ok, I've done some more testing...
I can still connect using Live Mesh's Remote Desktop to my Vista Home Premium at work... and the ports I see being used make it really nice to go past the http proxy server.
When I boot into Win7 RC all the settings (firewall, etc.) are the same... yet I cannot connect.
The only difference is the network connection has a yellow warning image overlay and a message that states that there is no access to the internet. But that is not true as I can connect to the internet.
I have discovered that others have this problem.. but the solutions I've seen do not work for me. Hope this problem is solved in Win7 RTM.Tuesday, September 1, 2009 6:21 AM -
It certainly does seem that there is something about the network connection in Windows 7 RC that isn't quite right.
