MS CRM 4.0: Install exception.System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ProvisionBusinessAction failed. RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I am facing an issue while installing MS CRM 4.0.

    The exact issue is:

    When Install the CRM server, organization unit of the Domain server is get updated with MSCRM security access gropus. But when installer try to update the organization unit and admin user information in MSCRM database, installer get terminated and setup failed.

     

    Exception is: "Install exception.System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ProvisionBusinessAction failed. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007202B): A referral was returned from the server."

     

    Domain setup informations:

    Domain server operating system :

    1.     Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP2.

    2.     Active Dierctory mode: Windows 2000 Mixed

     

     CRM Server is the member server of the domain.

    1. OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprice Edition with SP2.

    2. IIS 6.0 configured for .net all versions

    3. .Net framework 3.0 with SP1, WCF and WF.

    4. SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with SP2 with Database Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services, MS SQL Agent and SQL Browser.

    5. SQL server configured for Mixed mode authentication and NT AUTHORITY / NETWORK SERVICE ACCOUNT configured properly.

    6. Reporting service website configured for Windows Authentication.

     

    Followed MSCRM Installation process:

    1. A new user created as domain account and permited in MSCRM Server as local administrator and Domain Administrator. In SQL Server and reporting service user has System Admin and DB owner and in Report server web site as content manager.

  • There was a similar error message during the install of MS CRM 3.0

    928015 CRM 3.0 Installation 11/22/2006 Error message when you try to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0: "Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ProvisionBusinessAction failed"

  • Hi Hassan,
    Is there any other way to achieve this. The forest domain in Win 2000 Mixed mode, will it give any issue. Please suggest me any other solutions for this problem.

    One question:  when you went through the installation wizard did you download all updates before moving forward?  Also, did you receive any warnings or errors messages after the environment diagnosis? 

     

    These are supported AD Modes:

     

    Active Directory Modes

    The computer on which Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 is running must be a domain member in a domain that is running in one of the following Active Directory® modes:

    ·         Windows 2000 Mixed

    ·         Windows 2000 Native

    ·         Windows Server 2003 Native

    ·         Windows Server 2003 Interim

    ·         All Windows Server 2008 Modes
