  • Hi, hope someone can help.

I have bought a new laptop and i am trying to transfer the Microsoft money programme from my old laptop to my new one via an external hard drive. When i try to open the programme on the new laptop is prompting me for a password which i don't have. I have tried to restore it from a backup file but it says the file path is incorrect?? I don't know what im doing wrong. Would be grateful for any help.

    Thanks Emma

  • Let's assume you installed Money 2002 on the new computer from the installation disk.

A bogus password error normally means that the *.mny file that you are trying to open was created by a version of Money newer than Money 2002.

If you are in the US, one of your options in dealing with that is expected to disappear at the the end of the month. Don't put off solving this.

If you are outside of the US, then the situation is less clear.
